The Department of Education of the City of Totana has delivered, for the second time, the Academic Excellence Awards to students of ESO and Baccalaureate of the IES "Juan de la Cierva", corresponding to the 2016/2017 course, whose act was held on Thursday, Tuesday in the municipal plenary hall.
The mayor, Andrés García, the Councilor for Education, Eulalia Moreno, and the director of the center, Juan Francisco Otálora, presented the acknowledgments to the students in order to assess their effort and recognize their academic record during the past school year.
The initiative promoted by this Department aims to recognize and reward the effort and talent of the best students of the educational centers in the levels of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), Baccalaureate and Vocational Training, granting the deserved public recognition to their work, talent and effort through the delivery of an accrediting diploma.
The City Council had already delivered these awards also at the beginning of last June to the winners of the IES "Prado Mayor" and the schools "La Milagrosa", "Reina Sofía" and "Guadalentín" of El Paretón.
The elected students have been re-selected by a commission in charge of assessing the circumstances in each case, selecting the best academic files of the municipality and proposing the winners in each modality.
It is the intention of the City Council of Totana, through the Department of Education, to recognize and value the efforts of students in secondary schools in our municipality that have achieved the best academic record in the 2016/2017 academic year and do so in successive editions. the next years.
The files that aspired to this recognition have been proposed by the centers of the municipality of Totana and that meet the following requirements: be enrolled in one of the centers of Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training of Totana (IES Prado Mayor, IES Juan de La Cierva, CEIPS La Milagrosa, CEIPS Reina Sofía and CEIB Guadalentín) and have obtained an average grade of 8 or higher in the 2016/2017 academic year.
The proposals were delivered by the educational centers, previously mentioned, in the Department of Education of the Totana City Council, duly accredited by the centers (certificate of the school year).
When establishing the list of applications submitted, not only the highest average final grade obtained in the 2016/2017 academic year was assessed, but also the circumstances in which a bright result was obtained (family, economic circumstances, etc.). ).
The City Council appointed a selection committee, which was in charge of assessing the circumstances in each case, selecting the best academic files of the municipality and proposing the winners in each modality.
