Totana City Council has requested funding to the Ministry of Public Works for the promotion of accessibility in order to remove architectural barriers in the municipality, pursuant to a call for proposals carried out by the agency, through the Directorate General of Architecture and Housing, which has the closing date for applications for these grants which allow remove architectural barriers in the municipalities of the Region.

Specifically, the towns of Aguilas, Aledo, Alguazas, Alhama de Murcia, Archena, Calasparra, Cartagena, Cehegín, Fortuna, Lorca, Murcia, Pliego Puerto Lumbreras, Torre Pacheco Totana, Ulea, Villanueva and Yecla.

A total of nearly 30 actions requested, among which are the removal of barriers on beaches, public buildings such as town halls, museums, cultural centers or libraries.

Something that, according to the director general, "states the intention of local population to make their nuclei more accessible, since they have submitted applications to remove the physical barriers of 16 streets and for the drafting of two Municipal Accessibility Plans ".

Nogueroles Marcos stressed that "the regional government continues to focus on improving the quality of life of citizens, with this line of aid allowed in 2008 to subsidize 12 performances in 10 municipalities in the region."

Assessment of applications
