This initiative started from the Collective for Social Promotion "The Candle" and with funding from the Institute of Social Action Murciano is developing in Totana since last January 15 and until March 31, 2009.
Gelem-Gelem project is the development of basic literacy workshops for people with any personal difficulties, social, family, etc., Who have left school at an early age and residing in different suburbs of Totana.
The objective of this project is the launch of a space with a commitment to innovation in non-formal education as a tool for social advancement of people with social disadvantages.
We can also highlight other goals: to improve personal skills through increased training, using techniques and methods of engaging and innovative, and enhance the acquisition of social skills, while learning content is applicable to improving the quality of daily life.
The literacy workshop in which 10 people are currently participating, not only is the teaching of certain skills and content to better integrate into society, but at the same time allows space for them to learn while having fun with various activities such as: film screenings, debates, discussions, crafts, etc, to continue learning in the company of people in the same neighborhood, among whom they live day by day, and a family atmosphere.
The training sessions take place in the Multipurpose Room of the Social Housing C / Argentina and Social Local "El Parral" (behind the swimming pool) and the management, coaching and information about the activities is located in the Offices Collective "The Candle", C / Gómez Gómez Archpriest Pellicer 1, Mezzanine (Upper BBVA).
