The departments of Health and Social Welfare will propose this afternoon to the full City Council of Totana to urge the Ministry of Health, Region of Murcia, to improve and enlarge the scope of the Public Health System, the services provided through the Mental Health Center of Reference for the municipality in order to allow professionals to have more time for consultation to assist people with mental illness and their families.
Also, the proposal also intends to urge the Ministry of Health, in line with the strategic document published in the Mental Health Strategy National Health System, to provide the Autonomous Communities budget to improve care in Mental Health Centers, with special attention to extending the consultation time and reduced waiting time for care.
In the same vein, also intends to urge the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Migration to expand the Day Care Centers and other public resources for recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation of persons with mental illness and encourage DG Disability Murciano Institute of Social Action, to provide in the budget for 2009 a Day Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitacón or people with mental illness in the town of Totana.
In this sense, the municipal mayors of both departments, recalled the different actions taken by the Council of Totana in this area, including the collaboration with the association of relatives of mentally ill in Totana (AFEMTO), the implementation of Psychosocial Support Services for People with Mental Health diagnosis, and the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Mental Health Center of Lorca, for referral and referral of people diagnosed with mental health support programs in the town of Totana .
