Municipal Service sign language interpreter for the deaf and hard of hearing has closed its doors recently and will resume its services on 1 September.
It is a service that the City Council of Totana continue to provide under the agreement signed for the fourth consecutive year among the Consistory totanero and the Federation of the Deaf in the Region of Murcia, for an amount of EUR 9190.98.
This municipal service sign language interpreter was born with the aim of contributing to social integration of deaf people of Totana, facilitate communication between deaf and hearing people and encourage participation of the group of deaf people in local public life and social the municipality.
The service is to provide a sign language interpreter to any deaf and hard of hearing to the municipality to enable it to communicate those efforts need to perform.
As a novelty, the mayor reported that among the actions carried out from this service includes the interpretation of a number of press conferences that are made from the City contributing in this way "to bring local information to the deaf hard of hearing. "
The Municipal Services Sign Language Interpreter is free and will be located on the premises of the Department of Citizen Participation in Menorca Street, from Monday 12 May until December.
The service will be provided during the morning but contemplates the possibility of flexible hours depending on the needs of people who might need it.
Individuals, institutions, municipal offices that need to use the service must apply to the Department of Citizenship asking appointment at least 48 hours in advance either by contacting the offices of the Department, either on the phone 968 41 81 72 or send request via e-mail.
