The Municipal People's submitted a proposal to the plenary of the Corporation to urge the National Government to promote the adoption of legal measures to guarantee the rights of victims of terrorism and dignity, including measures requiring the removal of the name ETA Basque streets as well as measures to ensure the distance between victims and terrorists.
Democratic forces, as stated by the Municipal People's Party spokesman, José Antonio Valverde Queen, "we must remain united in the fight against terrorism and the rights and dignity of victims of terrorism"
In this regard, he referred to the events of recent weeks which have led to the Municipal Group to this proposal, such as the decision of the Criminal Chamber of the Audiencia Nacional to hold the names that pay homage to ETA (provided when agreements have been taken before December 24, 2000 because there was no crime of praising terrorism) and the other side it has reopened the debate on whether terrorists can live by (even in the same building) of its victims or their immediate families.
According to the mayor, "the current penal code does not guarantee the rights of victims of terrorism and their dignity," so "as binding upon the submission of this proposal."
