The councilors of Environment, Agustin Gonzalo Martinez, Environmental Education, Isabel Maria Molino, yesterday presented the information campaign and public awareness entitled "Let's separate fine, recycle better," sponsored by the City of Totana and spanning several lines action to increase proper waste management.

This initiative is carried out jointly by the departments of Environment, Waste and Environmental Education in collaboration with the company "Ecoembalajes Spain, SA", with which it aims to encourage selective recycling and includes various actions and competitions environmental awareness.

These actions fall within the framework of collaboration agreement between the Autonomous Community, through the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment, and that company.

The basic objective of the initiative is to develop environmental awareness tasks aimed at the population of Totana on separate collection of light packaging and paper and cardboard basically raising awareness about the importance of source separation of packaging for subsequent deposit in the container appropriate for treatment and recycling.

With this campaign, which will be launched through the mass and specific public actions communication, we want to raise awareness of the importance of participating in waste recycling, achieving an increase in the rate of recycling ;

and promote the separation of waste at source.

In addition, as explained by both mayors, it has the aim of informing about the correct use of green spots installed on public roads and reduce the percentage of "unfit" from the blue and yellow containers.

The campaign runs from today, with submission to the public, and until 17 December;

and it includes the creation of two contests: "Recycle and Win" aimed at the whole population in general;

and drawing "In recycling, you paint a lot", with the participation of students of 6th of Primary Education for all schools in Totana.

They also will develop various actions of public awareness on the issue of informative draft and dissemination, as shares of informative work in institutional platforms, environmental education talks and awards in each contests to encourage citizen participation and school .
