The Association of Families and People with Alzheimer Totana "The Carrasca La Santa" (AFAT) celebrates the Solidarity XI Meeting of Friends and People with Alzheimer's, from 17 to 21 September, coinciding with the celebration of World Day of the disease declared by the World Health Organization 21 the next day.
Councilwoman Seniors, Antonia Camacho, accompanied by the president and treasurer of this association, Dolores Lopez Valenzuela and Juani Sanchez, presented the program of activities that will continue for the next few days.
This program of activities is given to know the disease and spreads information, support and solidarity of the general public is requested, as well as public and private institutions and agencies.
The activities begin on Thursday, August 17, at 18:30, with the general meeting of members at the cultural center "Jail";
and then, a film about this disease will be screened.
Also on Friday, the 18th, at 18:30 hours, will be given by the nurse of the Health Area of ​​Lorca, Vicente Carlos Carreño talk, entitled "Care and love" at the cultural center "La jail ";
and at 20:00 pm, a musical act enlivened by the "Friends of the Habanera" will be held.
On Sunday, the 20th, at 12:30 hours, the Eucharist will be held at the Shrine of the Holy also sung by the "Friends of the Habanera";
and then will be the act of homage to all the relatives and patients who are no longer among us.
At 14:00 hours, will be the fellowship meal at the restaurant "Venta La Rata", with a price of 25 euros per person and 10 euros for children.
The program ends on day 21, when the World Day of the disease is commemorated, will take place at 11:00 hours, a totanero lunch with patients, relatives and technicians in the Alzheimer's Day Center, located on Royal Street.
AFAT president advocated that affected by Alzheimer's person must be the center of attention, the axis around which they have absolutely turn all efforts and inspire all the steps that are to be taken to improve not only their quality of life, but also the figure of caregivers who care and care for them every day.
Therefore, it is a priority not only meet, but to analyze in depth what the main needs of the affected person, know what you need, the difficulties to be faced in meeting their shortcomings, etc., because only in this way you can define a suitable framework for effective support and cash.
Currently AFAT, has 190 members who pay an annual fee of 40 euros.
