Eight volunteer students from the University of Murcia (UMU) participate in the educational support project promoted by Department of Youth and Education, held outside school hours and through which actions are taken to prevent and reduce the problems of failure, truancy and drop occurring in Totana, aimed at children and young people in primary education.

With these socio cooperation agreements signed by the Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, in the presence of Councillor for Youth, Bartholomew Pallares, and the Councillor for Education, Josefa María Sánchez seeks to improve, especially learning in disadvantaged contexts sociocultural.

At the signing of the agreement was attended by eight university students receive at the end of the course a certificate attesting to the hours of voluntary action and the corresponding college credit.

Is being provided educational reinforcement forty-five students who are studying between 3rd and 6th of Primary and each university gives educational support to a total of five students.

The mayor has personally congratulated the students involved in this project, explained that the objective is to conduct a complementary intervention to school, from a concept of coordinated work between different social actors involved in the educational process of children and young people who will run this project.

With this initiative, Sánchez Ruiz, "is directly helping children in situations of sociocultural disadvantage and social exclusion, which has a commendable merit for the six students participating in this initiative."

The councilor congratulated the municipal officers of both councils and encouraged more college students to participate in this program in order to broaden the participation of more students beneficiaries.

Additionally, he said that the program is performing well, as are the students who demand the participation of university students.

Elena Cánovas Burgos, Totana (Primary Education), Rosalia Parra Aznar, dee Totana (Primary Education);

Miras Anabel Garcia of Totana (Social Education);

and Ana Gómez García, Totana (Primary Education).
