The Department of Social Services and Caritas has launched a virtual intranet to improve referral of cases requiring care support from paths entities.

The Councillor for Social Care, Josefa Maria Sanchez Mendez, has indicated that the articulation of this database enables you to keep at all times and shared information on the user's situation which improves the objective evaluation of the same face access of these people to resources that both CARITAS, Church of Santiago as CARITAS, Three Hail Marys Convent.

In this sense, as explained by the mayor, has replaced the sheet bypass paper that was issued to the user by the Municipal Social Services, and required to be renewed periodically, on the other "virtual" card inserted in the database shared data that certainly simplifies the steps and procedures that should make users face to obtaining aid

These actions of assessment and referral, in the words of the mayor, are necessary to establish and "filter" cases of serious need of others who are less so, and so encourage these entities to distribute and grant the same in the most rational and fair as possible.

It should be emphasized that this coordination procedure is part of the protocol established in 2012 between the Department of Social Services of the City of Totana and local entities that manage food programs and other assistance.

This improvement is referred to in the agreement recently signed with the City Council and Caritas Caritas Santiago Three Hail Marys respectively to strengthen collaboration and complementarity of their respective social services and improve performance in favor of individuals and families experiencing or at risk of social exclusion.

Sanchez Mendez indicated that Totana has pioneered regarding the implementation of this procedure which has been assessed very positively by all entities involved, especially through coordination meetings and keep track of it that have remained.

Under this protocol, it should be noted, as has reminded mayor, during the first half of 2014, a total of 1033 people corresponding to 321 families (figure very similar to the same period in 2013) have been assessed and derived by the social services center primary care food programs and other assistance from CARITAS and ADIPSAI.

Sanchez Mendez explained that "this number shows the relevance and stagnant situations of poverty that exist in the village and that result in great difficulty suffering these families to meet their basic essential needs given their limited economic resources ".
