Elementary Education students who have participated in Totana Project Educational Support for this school year, along with university volunteers who have worked on this project, have recently visited the Aquarium of the University of Murcia, located in the former artillery barracks, invited by the Service to the Diversity and Volunteer of the university.

This activity has been terminated this project whose recipients have been especially students with special educational needs and in social and cultural disadvantage.

Through this initiative has been able to develop a complementary intervention to school, thanks to the collaboration of college students during the months of January to May have worked with these students two days a week, supporting, among other activities, in completing homework and teaching techniques and positive study habits and school work and encourage students practical experience of the school in a positive, motivating and interesting way.

Following the visit the Vice Chancellor for Students, Quality and Equality, University of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Pérez Sánchez to the aquarium, along with the Councillor for Education of the City of Totana, Josefa Maria Sanchez Mendez, received students and volunteers at an event in which he gave them them a certificate showing the hours worked by volunteer which may subsequently earn college credit.

Both the Vice-Chancellor as the Councillor had words of thanks to the volunteers from the activity and achievements, as well as positive and friendly messages of encouragement, motivation and overcoming to students.

They have participated in this project forty eight volunteers and students from eight schools in Totana Primary Education.

This project is organized by the City of Totana, through an agreement with the University of Murcia, through its Service to Diversity and Volunteerism.
