The Athletics Race XVIII ascent of Santa Totana, organized by the Department of Sports and Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, was played yesterday with a total of 298 entries.
This year the race was to benefit the local board of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), such that each pre-registration 3 euros were allocated to this entity and each entry on the day of test 5 euros.
Between them, the figure reached was 932 euros in total.
The Mayor of Totana, María Isabel Sánchez Ruiz, at the end of the test, presented to the President of the Local Board of Totana AECC, Pedro Marin Ayala, a check for this amount.
The test began at ten o'clock, starting in the Constitution Square, in the center of the city;
while the target was located in the atrium of the Shrine of the Holy.
In total, 7.33 miles of hard climb was completed without any flat stretch except for the first quarter mile.
A total of 279 athletes entered the goal.
Of these, 15 and 55 totaneros totaneras which is a record of local participation.
The rest, 209, coming from all towns in the region as well as municipalities in surrounding provinces.

All runners received a commemorative technical shirt and backpack.
In addition, the 165 enrolled before April 15 received a pen drive 4Gb commemorative test.
In addition, 30 awards were presented to the winners in a drawing by bib number consisting of typical totaneras crocks and commemorative pen drives.
The race featured many free services such as massages by physios, cloakroom, transfer of family and friends of athletes from start to finish, showers in the meta, meta Shuttle buses from the exit area, medical and ambulance service, etc..
The test was timed by Asuspuestos.com and had the cooperation of the Judges of the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia.
The trophies and prizes was given by the Mayor of Totana, María Isabel Sánchez Ruiz, the sports council, Bartolomé Pérez Pallares, the representative of the Athletics Federation of Murcia, Antonio Jesús Bermúdez Cutillas, the winner of the last three editions Raul Guevara and Chairman of the Local Board of Totana AECC Marín Pedro Ayala.
At the beginning of the awards ceremony, the city of Totana handed over a typical centreboards totaneras Jesus Bermudez and Antonio Molina Juanma in appreciation for his help in organizing the event and Antonio Martínez Olmos, veteran racer with more than 81 years came Beniaján locality.
