The Sports Council organized last Sunday a new trail through the Sierra del Oro, next to the Serrania de Ricote;
and was one of the most away trips this season offered within that program because, in total, 17 kilometers were completed.
The route was directed by Javier García Melgarejo and involved 18 walkers.
The start of the route was carried from the sanctuary of the Virgin del Oro on a trail climb to the viewpoint of the Cross, the highest point on the route.
The day was splendid to observe the landscape, so could contemplate such emblematic places as the Waterwheel of eyes, saw the Naveta, Regional Park of the Sierra de la Pila and the Carche, to name some natural areas.
The slope of the Sierra del Cuchillo became a forest track with good firm where you could see mountains as far as the Sagra, in the province of Granada.
The last stretch ran through the Rambla de Benito, a place of great geological and ethnographic value.
The last route of the season will be on May 11 by the guide José García Huéscar and run along the unspoilt coast between Capo Cope and Calnegre tips.
Registrations can be made Monday through Friday at the Sports Pavilion "Manolo Ibáñez".
