A total of 20 walkers participated last Sunday route organized by the Sports Council that ran by Cabeza de San Ginés de la Jara, near the Llano del Beal (Cartagena), directed by Antonio Martínez Cano monitor.

The route passed through the famous Cueva Victoria, and therefore, efforts were made previously with the city of Cartagena to walkers could enter the cave and have a guided tour by an expert, in this case, visit Andres Ros.

In this sense, the Sports Council thanks the City of Cartagena the facilities provided for this visit has been possible.

Inside the cave walkers enjoyed the views and explanations on mining and paleontological excavations are taking place.

As indicated by Andres Ros, no materials up to 1.2 million years and has even appeared a phalanx of a hominid.

All participants stressed the interest of the visit to the Cueva Victoria, and the work of guide, which made them "relive" their explanations, the mine workings and the times that the cave was inhabited by hyenas, and leading to the same remains of elephants, bears and other animals inhabiting the same environment 1.2 million years ago.

From the cave, the route headed for the Strait of San Gines, and thence to a hill, with great views of Carmolí and around the Mar Menor, and then to the summit, where they visited one of the small chapels where Monastery monks retired to penance.

After enjoying the stunning views across the Mar Menor, with its islands and the Manga and the Sierra Minera, participants started back towards the Straits, where we waited for the bus to return to Totana on schedule.

The following directed path will take place on 6 April which will pass through the village of Murcia Beniaján.
