Verano'2013 School of Totana organized by the Collective for Social Promotion "The Candle", in collaboration with the Youth Council, provides support for the reconciliation of family and works more than 70 families in schools Totana public "Santiago" and "Tierno Galvan", in which it develops this activity.
The mayor, Isabel Maria Sanchez, accompanied by the mayor of Education, Josefa Maria Sanchez, and the project coordinator, Eva Leon, visited two schools where this initiative is being developed, framed within the "Summer Totana" that years has been organizing the Youth Council.
The project involves children aged 3-12 years that are oriented in the numerous educational and entertainment activities and free time for education professionals and supported by a group of three volunteers, who make crafts, workshops, artistic expression and creativity, sports, games and various group dynamics.
New this year have included an English workshop.
Participants in this project, which is celebrated throughout the month of July, also have the opportunity to play activities as two trips, one to the Equestrian Therapy Center that manages the Equestrian Therapy Association of Murcia, and another to sports center where students can enjoy bathing in the pool.
In addition, children have the chance to encourage educational leisure skills which is so important for their development, especially in the cases of those who having child age, can acquire sociable behaviors that will facilitate educational adaptation.
The City contributes to the implementation of measures to support families, which are necessary to become an important support for accessing and maintaining employment in these difficult times.
In addition, this year has had the collaboration of the Department of Social Services so that they could participate in this project children whose families did not have financial resources to meet the quota.
The mayor praised the work of revitalization and socialization being done "The Candle" in Totana years and thanked and congratulated the makers of this program by the program's success this year, while encouraged them to continue working , from the hand of the Consistory, in common projects that contribute to the social and educational development of the people of Totana.
Also explained that the purpose of the Summer School is to ensure a space for leisure time filled with creativity, participatory work, fun and entertainment through creative expression workshops, games, excursions, sport or festivals and leisure activities, in order to support working parents, who require this service summer.
