This past Saturday, May 11, the Association of Parents of Mentally Handicapped of Totana, PADISITO, visited the Pottery Romero and Hernandez to learn more about this tradition in our town pottery itself.
During the visit, participants were able to learn how this tradition has evolved over the years, have known the traditional Moorish oven, whose name as I have explained comes from the Arab tradition, as this type of furnace and was used by that culture, and we have received an inheritance, and have visited the exhibition of earthenware made in this traditional way.
While the highlights and what else has excited all visitors was the opportunity to develop themselves a piece of clay with their own hands.
With the help of Peter, the potter who has attended the group, each participant was able to make a piece of clay, based on their own creativity, which can then take as a souvenir.
It certainly has been a nice visit that brings us to know the history, traditions and craftsmanship of our town, and promotes social integration of this collective and its quality of life improves.
Moreover, this activity would not have been possible without the collaboration of Pottery Romero and Hernandez, whom we thank from here have opened the doors to this partnership, and its popularity during the visit.
