The Department of Environment is focusing Totana public awareness campaign of selective collection of municipal solid waste in recycling containers, given that in recent years this approach has been the lowest percentage that has been compared to cardboard or glass, respectively.

The Councillor for the Environment, María José Bedia, recalled the actions included in the communication campaign and environmental awareness on waste recycling in Totana, which this year intensifies good use of yellow containers for packing light.

The realization of this campaign is developed under the City's accession to the collaboration agreement between the Ministry of the Presidency and the company "Ecoembajales Spain, SA", and aims to raise awareness among neighbors in the recycling of packaging waste plastic and metal and breaks.

This campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of recycling, promoting the separation of waste at source, increase recycling and lightweight packaging paper and cardboard, information about the correct use of green points installed in public and increase public participation in waste recycling.

The campaign is considering several actions in broadcast media, lectures and awareness-raising initiative "Door to Door" and the installation of a Mobile Information Point (PIM) on the weekly market.

The PIM offers every Wednesday at the weekly market, with the help of environmental monitors, an information service and environmental awareness, from 9:30 to 13:30, in which he realizes on waste deposited in each of the recycling containers located in public and focuses on the packaging.

The educators also conduct a questionnaire on consumer habits and use of containers for selective collection points.

Also included is the initiative called "Door to Door" is that these environmental educators in households reported a personalized Totana citizens, especially in the suburban areas of Totana, on the importance and necessity of the separation of waste at source, as well as the proper use of selective container.
