The Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, met recently with Secretary of State for Trade, Jaime García-Legaz, Ministry of Economy and directed by Luis Legaz Guindos, in order to present the conclusions of the economic-financial study and measures of municipal viability plan that has been submitted to the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration.
The councilor, who was accompanied by the Councillor for Economy and Finance, Maria Jose Baeza, has exposed the Government of Spain charge of the road map being drawn by the municipal government and the proposed agreements adopted at the extraordinary plenary session the last day Feb. 2.
In this plenary session approved the actions that should allow maintenance of municipal public services and address the debt of 84.3 million euros to be clear of that audit.
Sanchez said the new Secretary of State will request the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration authorization to enter into a syndicated loan with financial institutions with which the Consistory has operations currently in force.
Similarly, he realized that the Consistory application will perform the government's economic area to study the possibility of introducing a new ICO addressed to the municipalities and intended exclusively for payment to providers.
The mayor also realized the economic-financial study prepared by the municipal officers in recent months, which shows, as of December 31, 2011 - the long-term debt with financial institutions amounted to 42 million euros, the commercial suppliers is 32 and the ten remaining public and other agencies, respectively.
Said Feasibility Plan intends to apply for implementation of actions included in this road map and authorize an increase in borrowing capacity of the municipal institution.
The Plan has the primary objective, he explained to Garcia-Legaz, getting progressively and in parallel to the adjustment measures already adopted or pending application, the desired objective of budgetary stability and obtaining the necessary and sufficient liquidity.
The mayor is scheduled to meet again with Secretary of State in the coming weeks to resume the negotiations begun at this meeting and working very positively assessed the readiness of García-Legaz as "valuable partner" to the interests of the City and Totana neighbors in their relationship with the Government of the Nation.
