Apia XXI Group will invest in Totana a total of 55 million euros to build seven greenhouses innovative photovoltaic panels which are covered by stimulating 1,500 jobs in the municipality.

The Minister of Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marín, accompanied by the Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and the head of the Division of Land Management Apia XXI Group, Robert Half, presented this innovative project that will generate electricity equivalent to consumption of 11,000 people or nearly 5,000 households.

This initiative, called by the business group 'agro-energy facilities, "added 14 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity and has an innovative design engineering, which combines the latest technology of photovoltaic solar energy production, with the creation of covered spaces in which to develop micro-climates suitable for all types of crops for food or ornamental plants.

Estimates of the development plan of the investment project set to generate 1,000 jobs during construction of the facilities as well as 300 direct jobs during its operation and another 150 indirect, arising from activities related to sectors such as logistics.

Also contribute to the revitalization of business in the region and generating new business opportunities.

For the development of this initiative, the business group has 11 plots in Totana, totaling 28 hectares of land, which will be built seven facilities.

The project includes the installation of 10,000 solar panels have an installed capacity of 14 MW and prevent emissions to the atmosphere of more than 11,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

Similarly, to connect each of the agro-energy facilities to substations to evacuate the energy and get it to consumers, Apia XXI Group plans to install over 17 miles of underground power line.

The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, explained that this is a great project that will greatly benefit the municipality since it committed to photovoltaic energy while increasing agricultural production.

The mayor has indicated that with the support of regional government has ensured that the construction of these greenhouses booting in April and will become a reality that will benefit many families in the municipality.

For his part, Marin stressed "the work we do from the Plan for Attracting Investment and Industrial Plan providing confidence and agility in the administrative process that involves our Regional Law on Renewable Energy and Energy Saving and Efficiency, which makes succeeded in attracting innovative projects like this that the Apia XXI Group will develop in Totana.
