The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, accompanied by the mayor of Health, Trini Cayuela, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Management III Murcia Health Service, represented by its manager, José Luis Albarracín, for which it is financed dispensing service whose cost methadone, until now were paid by the City Council of Totana.
During the signing of the agreement, which also have gathered the regional coordinator of the Drug Addiction Plan, Juan Jimenez, and Director of Nursing Service Area III Health Murciano, Andres Soto, have raised the lines of collaboration maintenance of assistive device for dispensing methadone in Totana Health Center, to support the treatment of patients in the municipality and prevent shifting Care Center of Drug Addicts of Lorca.
The mayor of Health explained that the assistive device Methadone Dispensing, comprising a doctor and a nurse, is situated in the Emergency Department at the Health Center Totana, in order to ensure proper coordination of the device with the Center Drug Dependency Care of Lorca, which is the focal point of the Health Area.
Currently, as explained, are about forty people who need this service.
The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, recalled that this agreement means something important, on one hand, it continues to maintain this vital service for many people, and secondly, the City is clear of competencies that are inappropriate.
Martínez Andreo explained that during this term have been great efforts have been made to improve the quality of services provided to citizens on Health.
Thus, we have implemented and expanded services, improved infrastructure and building new ones such as the Health Center-South Totana.
As explained the manager of the Area III, was not acceptable for this service and continue to be covered by City Hall, but by the Health Service of Murcia.
Thanks to the excellent relations between respective administrations, Albarracín, they reach agreements that will allow the Consistory is apparent from expenses that are not within its competence.
For its part, the regional coordinator of the Drug Addiction Plan has stressed that it is making a great effort by the Consistory totanero to prevent drug abuse especially among school children and youth.
In this regard, he recalled that thanks to a grant from the General Directorate of Citizen Attention is being conducted among the smallest shares of awareness in schools.
