The event was attended by the Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and more members of the municipal corporation and representatives of various associations of the town and neighbors in general, have shown their firm commitment to the fight against violence gender, because prevention and victim support have become the two pillars for combating such violence.
In addition, white ribbons were distributed to all attendees and people at City Hall, since as pointed out by the mayor, "take it means accepting personal commitment not to commit, permit, or silence the violence against women, since to wear white tie tends to make visible, to mobilize men and to educate young people about the issue of violence against women. Then, we proceeded to read a manifesto that was written by people who comprise the Municipal Council for Equal Opportunity, to be approved by the full City Council tonight.
Reading the manifesto has been undertaken by winning the first prize for painting contest "Art for Equality 2010", Andrés David Durán Tennoury.
With this act, as has been evident in the manifesto, the city of Totana and the City Council for Equal Opportunity have expressed support and solidarity to the women victims of violence, showing the positioning of rejection and complaint the persistence of one of the most virulent forms of discrimination based on sex, violence against women.
