The Municipal People's Party submitted a motion to the full City Council of Totana, to urge the Ministry of Economy to include in the General State Budget for 2011 a significant item to start the work of regeneration Portman Bay.
The People's spokesperson, Josefa María Sánchez, recalled that in 2006 was signed between the three government Regeneration Convention for the Portman Bay, in order to carry out the actions that bridge that has been regarded by many organizations as a major ecological attack in history in the Mediterranean Sea, the result of mining activity carried out during the second half of the twentieth century, the predator and no respect for the environment.
The mayor reported that the drafting of the technical project by the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, was finalized and adopted in July 2008 and last year agreed to hold another meeting of the Commission during the month of January 2010, but it has been concluded and no explanation has been provided thereon by the responsible ministries of the Government of Spain.
In this regard, said the September 30, 2010 came to light that the law of the State Budget for 2011 there was a budget item for bidding on the work of regeneration Portman Bay, except for a scheduled departure of 909,000 euros to pay off previous studies conducted on blanketing the ground in previous years.
The popular mayor said that this situation is unacceptable and must be corrected, so that through this proposal will ask the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine that, during the first half of 2011, tendered the proposed reclamation works Portman Bay.
