The councilman of Deportes of the City of Totana, José Antonio Valverde Queen and sports coach, Jesus Serrano, presented the activities of the program "School Sports" for the 2010/11 academic year in the municipality, from October 4 will offer free activities until May.
This sports program, organized by the Department of Sports City of Totana, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Sports in the Region of Murcia and Schools of the town, offers a free comprehensive sports program.
Sports Councilman emphasized that the main objective of all school sport activities is to "promote and encourage physical activity in our schools, through knowledge and an introduction to different sports, with a methodology entertaining, fun and healthy." Queen Valverde explained that the supply of school sports in the town of Totana is the best in quality and quantity, which is offered in the Region of Murcia, as has been confirmed by the General Directorate of Sports.
School Sports Centre, which takes place in schools, targeting primary school pupils aged between 4 and 12 years, will be held Monday through Thursday in the sports of schools from 16:00 and 18:00 pm for kids (4 and 5 years), prebenjamín (6 and 7), Benjamin (8 and 9) and juvenile (10 to 12 years).
In addition, the Department has designed a program specific events for schoolchildren from 8 to 18, with activities football, basketball, volleyball, chess, athletics, badminton, table tennis and guidance.
They will also have the opportunity to participate in the School Championship by schools in the Region of Murcia, organized by the Directorate General of Sports.
In this regard, the mayor of Sports explained that the Department made available to participating students and bus monitors to scroll to the event.
In addition, the mayor has announced that the Department of Sports and schools in Totana organized from 4 to 7 April, the Week of Health and Physical Activity, with a range of sporting activities and talks, aimed primarily at raising the educational community of the importance that can have continued the practice of sports and good food on health of schoolchildren.
Finally, the mayor reminded that all students enrolled in the School Sports Programme will benefit from a sports accident insurance, by the General Directorate of Sports in the Region of Murcia.
Registration will take place through physical education teacher from each of the schools.
