The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and the council of Planning and Sustainable Development, María José Bedia, and Education, Trini Cayuela, have visited the site of the second phase expansion of the Municipal School Children "Doña Pepita López Gandía" located in the urbanization El Parral de Totana, with the IES "Juan de la Cierva", in order to know the status of implementation of this infrastructure, which will double the number of children enrolled for this school year 2010/11.
The works, which are being implemented by the commercial "Hermanos Gómez SCL" on an area of 445.89 meters square, have a budget of 670,367 euros, funded by the Autonomous Community.
This nursery school, public third municipality, responds to a request from the residents of this neighborhood, currently houses about 60 children, and by expanding this center can accommodate twice as many children in school.
The infrastructure will house a total of nine children's classrooms first cycle (children aged 1 to 2 years) to accommodate a maximum of 25 children each, toilet modules, an administrative area with offices, staff room, reception, toilets public, clothing, kitchen, store, playground and garden area, among other services.
The building, located across the street Santomera the corner of San Antonio, is on one level and has projected adapted for people with disabilities, adapted toilets and changing rooms as well as ramps.
With the expansion work, according to the council, have built six classrooms and three double modules shared toilets every two classrooms, a body of single-storey building, with access through the main lobby of the center.
All classrooms have direct access to playground.
Through these extension works as Bedia said during a visit to these works are intended to expand the resources for the care of children of 0-3 years, facilitating the reconciliation of work and family life in our town and improve the quality of life of citizens.
Thus, reported that the six operating rooms in the month of September it will launch three, and three will be implemented according to demand.
For his part, Mayor of Totana welcomed the advanced state of execution of the works and the results thereof, and acknowledged the work carried out by the contractor congratulating turn to the Department of Planning and Sustainable Development and its technicians.
He noted that this legislature has advocated government team to promote an educational complex built in this neighborhood with the construction of the library, the nursery "Doña Patty Lewis, the expansion works of the infrastructure and the improvements made out at school Tierno Galván, with the expansion of classrooms and the construction of the Municipal School of Summer.
In this regard, he recalled that the investment that has been carried out in schools in the town rises to the higher amount of 11,000,000 euros, of which 9.600.00 have been funded by the Autonomous Region, 40,000 euros for City Council and 1,000,000 for the Local Investment Plan.
Thus, as noted, it meets one of the commitments to the education community in infrastructure Totana, recalling the work carried in all schools in the municipality in this term, such as expanding classrooms schools "San José", "District Deitania", "Tierno Galván" and "Guadalentín" El Parteón and the implementation of the school, "Luis Pérez Rueda."
