The councilman of Deportes, José Antonio Valverde Queen, welcomed the fact that it will be realized in the coming years, the bike lane project in the region of Guadalentín, which in its second phase will build the longest cycle route Spain with a total length of 60 kilometers and connecting the towns of Puerto Lumbreras, Lorca, Totana, Alhama de Murcia and booklets, respectively.
Valverde said that this project was launched at the time, more specifically at the beginning of this term, by the very Council of Sports of Totana, and was the Highways Agency which decided to undertake the infrastructure in two phases.
He said the first phase of the project includes the connection through this infrastructure, and Lorca Puerto Lumbreras, while the second is the "Lorca Librilla section, which will run attached to the N-340 that connects Totana to Alhama and service via the Mediterranean motorway (A-7), respectively.
The mayor noted that there were many meetings held at the beginning of this mandate from Totana municipal authorities and policy makers and experts from the Directorate General for the implementation of the project, initially, did not start for budget problems , but you will see the light at the end of this legislature, and noted that the project after the council joined the Sports of the region.
He said the second tranche of bike lanes will resume in the municipality of Lorca, following the first phase of the project which includes the stretch-Lorca Puerto Lumbreras and whose works are currently in recruitment.
He also indicated that the City has always believed in this project which aims to promote cycling transportation alternative to private vehicles, through the progressive introduction of a new culture of mobility, increasing pedestrian and cyclist movement and sport.
The council also discussed other projects of interest driven by other groups and governments, and supported from his department, as the recovery of Cartagena, Totana railway line for conversion as a greenway that will also increase the chances of these sports in touch with nature.
