The Local Government Board has agreed to sign agreements with the Department of Prehistory of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) to promote research, preservation, dissemination and promotion of the archaeological site of La Bastida;
as well as carrying out the Plan of Preventive Conservation, Monitoring, Control and Management of the collection of movable archaeological goods, exclusively those referred to the findings made during the excavations carried out between 2009 and 2013.
The first of the agreements, which is valid for one year, commits the UAB to carry out, as far as possible, the work of excavation, research, preservation and dissemination of the finds found in the archaeological site of La Bastida, and collaborate in the actions that are developed for its improvement and enhancement.
In addition, the UAB must submit to the City Council an annual archaeological report of the work carried out in the site since 2009 to date;
as well as inventory of the pieces found and that are deposited in the buildings of the deposit.
For its part, the Consistory authorizes the UAB to perform excavation work, research, restoration, dissemination and promotion in the site, located on land owned by the municipality;
and collaborate with those responsible for the "Project Bastida" -directed by professors Vicente Lull, Rafael Micó, Cristina Rihuete and Roberto Risch- in the improvement and enhancement of the same.
The City Council is committed to assume the services of cleaning and maintenance of facilities, as well as the cost of electricity, water and Internet supplies up to a maximum of 10,000 euros;
as well as collaborate, as far as possible, with means and security devices that guarantee surveillance in the premises and facilities up to a maximum of 120,000 euros.
In addition, a second extraordinary cooperation agreement has been given the green light, with a validity of three months -from January 1 to March 31, 2018-, whose objective is to carry out the Plan of Preventive Conservation, Monitoring, Control and Management of the collection of movable archaeological goods, solely and exclusively as regards the findings made in the site during the excavations carried out between 2009 and 2013.
The UAB will assume the coordination and execution of said Plan and will exclusively safeguard said materials during the working hours maintained in the last annuities (from Monday to Friday, except holidays, between 7:30 and 15:30 hours).
For its part, the City Council provides the amount of 6,500 euros and authorizes the UAB to perform these works in relation to the findings made in the site during the excavations undertaken on the dates cited, between 2009 and 2013, respectively.
