"Visit Totana to meet with the Community of Irrigators and has not communicated it to this Mayor's Office"

The mayor of Totana, Andrés García Cánovas, has accused of "institutional disloyalty" the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Francisco Jódar, who meets today with representatives of the Irrigation Community of this town and has not even communicated , protocol, as always when visiting this municipality a representative of the regional government, this mayor or any representative of the municipal government.

This City Hall regretted that it had to be informed through the daily information forecasts of the members of the regional government collected on the corporate website of the Autonomous Community that Jódar meets this morning, at noon, with representatives of the Community of Irrigators.

The mayor has denounced that, on the contrary, councilors of the opposition knew for days the visit scheduled for today of the Minister of Water and Agriculture to the seat of this body.

From the City Council criticize the gesture of the member of the regional government and the regional government as a whole, whose strategy is being in this and other municipalities meet with councilors of the ruling party in the Autonomous Community without respecting the most elementary standards of courtesy and institutional loyalty what citizens demand and institutions require.

García Cánovas emphasizes that he hopes that the regional government and the councilor will act, in the future, within the framework of "loyalty" that is supposed to exist between both administrations, fleeing from "partisan political interests".

For the mayor, "this attitude of trying to bridge the mayor, as the maximum and legitimate representative of the residents of Totana, does not seem to be the most appropriate by a member of the regional government."

In addition, he assured that "will not allow this bridge to bypass the normal channels and official channels of collaboration and management between the two institutions: City Council and Autonomous Community";

and he recalled that "this is not the first time that this circumstance occurs in this legislature, since the current government delegate, then Minister of Development, made a maneuver similar to the previous mayor Juan José Cánovas."

Precisely, the mayor met with the regional president, Fernando Lopez Miras, last Tuesday and agreed to continue, later, the round with the rest of the regional executive councils in order to address, in greater depth, different issues that involve the municipality .

In this regard, he stressed "to be convinced, as has happened in previous legislatures, of the collaboration and loyal and constructive work between both administrations".

The mayor also regretted the attitude of those responsible for the Community of Irrigators for not giving an account to Totana City Council of this institutional visit to the municipality.
