The City of Totana has received authorization for the use of fires for the preparation of typical dishes coinciding with the pilgrimage of Santa Eulalia on Saturday January 13, as reported by the councilor for the Environment, Antonia Camacho.

The Directorate General of the Natural Environment of the Ministry of Environment has informed the Consistory totanero the permission for the lighting of fires, with certain limitations and precautions, to prepare the typical dishes provided for this day of Saturday, from 6:00 to the 8:00 pm on the occasion of this pilgrimage.

The use of vegetable and gaseous fuel has been authorized for the lighting of fires, taking place in recreational areas where there are fixed and permanent infrastructures specially enabled for this purpose.

The fires with vegetal fuel will be made exclusively in fixed infrastructures, in the recreational areas, destined for that purpose (barbecues), and the ignition of fires with gaseous fuel will be able to be realized in all the surface enabled for such purpose in the recreational areas .

Immediate area and following recommendations

In case the barbecues are occupied, it will be allowed to fire in the area closest to them, always in an area free of inflammable material;

and the ignition will be subject to the wind being calm, with a speed not exceeding 5 kilometers / hour.

In addition, it is recommended to avoid smoking, lighting fires, throwing cigarette butts or any other action that entails risk of fire in any area with vegetation;

and it is totally forbidden to use pyrotechnic products.
