The mayor of Totana, Andrés García, and Councilwoman Gertrudis María Ruiz, attended last Friday afternoon, accompanied by municipal technicians, representing the City of Totana, the institutional act held by the Union of Associated Labor Cooperatives of the Region of Murcia (UCOMUR9 on the occasion of the XXVII World Cooperatives Day, and which took place in the "El Batel" Auditorium in Cartagena.
The event was attended by over 120 cooperatives throughout the autonomous community, as well as with the presence of national, regional and municipal institutions, organizations and associations, political parties and guests from all areas of Murcia society.
Along with them, the Minister of Employment, Universities and Business, Juan Hernández, the Vice Minister of Economy and Finance, Miguel Ãngel García, and the presidents of the School Council of the Region, Juan Castaño, and the Social Council of Murcia, will attend the gala of Cartagena. They also went to the mayor of different municipalities of the Region, such as Caravaca de la Cruz, Alhama de Murcia, Alcantarilla, La Union, Pacheco Tower, Campos del Río, Ãguilas or Torres de Cotillas, among others.
The national and regional organizations and associations also had representation in El Batel, with the presence of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (Cepes) and the Spanish Confederation of Cooperatives of Associated Work (Coceta).
Also, representatives of Fecoam, Fecamur, ONCE, Amep Cartagena, Jesus Abandoned Foundation, AJE Murcia, ANPE, FSIE, CANCAPA, CONFAPA, CEPAIM Foundation, Fundown, Fundación Diagrama, REAS Murcia, FASEN, UCE Murcia, were present at the gala. ACE-Association of Merchants and entrepreneurs of La Manga and Cabo de Palos, among others.
During the evening, which aimed to give social visibility to the model of cooperativism in the Region of Murcia and convey their commitment and involvement in the creation of employment, the Rainbow Awards of Ucomur, design by the Murcian artist Antonio Campillo, who recognize each year to different institutions, personalities and regional entities highlighted inside and outside the cooperative field.
In this XXVII edition, Ucomur wanted to highlight the work of Miguel Ãngel García Martín, Deputy Minister of Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid, as well as the figure of the Employment, Universities and Business Council of the Autonomous Community, and the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz , that this 2017 celebrates the Jubilee Year.
In the category reserved for personalities committed to social causes, the Prize was awarded to Joaquín Sánchez, in recognition of his commitment to immigrants and the fight against evictions in the Region.
As an outstanding cooperative in this edition, "Dino Toys" was awarded, located in the hamlet of Los Dolores, and the Alcooperativist award of the year recognized the career of Lázaro Pérez, a member of the cooperative Electronic Tres.
In addition, a mention was made to the City of Cartagena, for their collaboration in this event so indicated, which was collected by its mayor, Anabel Castejón.
