Totana will return to pay homage to the Flag of Spain on October 12, the feast of Hispanidad, thanks to the demands of the Popular Party over these years and after being negative on the part of the Government Team its celebration the two years above.
The People's Party again requested the full City Council held on Thursday, to celebrate an act of homage to the Flag of Spain, as it was done until 2015, following constant denials by the Government Team of the Pact PSOE and IU- WIN TOTANA in previous years to celebrate an act of homage to the flag of Spain on October 12.
During the years 2015 and 2016 PSOE and IU-GANAR TOTANA, they voted against on different occasions to the proposal by the Popular Party that on that date an act of homage to our flag of Spain was celebrated.
We are proudly proud that this year they have re-considered and re-celebrated.
From the Popular Group, as has already been said on numerous occasions before the full City Council, we consider that in these days of sovereignty challenges, it is necessary to defend the unity of Spain, the constitutional framework, the rule of law and of course our flag because those are the principles that underpin our democracy.
In addition, we would like to highlight the work and work of the State Security Bodies and Forces that daily watch over the welfare and safety of the Spaniards.
After the refusal by the Government Team in the two previous years the Popular Municipal Group wanted to keep alive in a very simple way, this solemn act for what it means and for what it entails, so that prior to the celebration of Mass Pilar in which we accompany the State Security Forces, we carry out a small homage to our flag and to many people who have left their lives for the defense of Spain.
We should not be ashamed of anything or feel complexed as being Spanish.
It is not a question of flags but of what it symbolizes and represents for the democrats and lovers of the Spanish Constitution of 1978.
Our flag symbolizes the constitutional Spain, open, tolerant and supportive of which we can all feel proud to be a part and that has cost us so much to get here, thanks to the work and effort of several generations of Spaniards.
It is clear that in a civilized society, democratic, tolerant and plural adding we all win.
Through this homage we are thankful for the work and service work provided by the State Security Corps and Forces and to commemorate our fallen, and more this year in which due to the whims of a few have in check a whole Country.
