On the occasion of the ascent, to the first port of the Collegiate Bermejo in Sierra Espuña, by La Vuelta a España, we decided that we could not miss what could be an unrepeatable day of cycling, so we organized an exit with friends to ascend the port of Collado Bermejo, where we would have mounted our tent to enjoy the first level cycling.
First thing in the morning, the technical team of Terra Sport Cycling, we went up to Collado Bermejo to organize the logistics, and for logistics the La Vuelta, we were able to see firsthand how the operators mount all the advertising and signage with a great professionalism, at the same time that the different security bodies of the state are taking positions to guarantee the security of the event.
The Morrón looked splendid as we mounted our tent, which would not last long.
On the other hand from Totana, our group had planned two alternative routes, after a small debate we opted to make the short route due to the weather forecast, and thank goodness, the idea turned out to be the right one.
While we enjoyed the ascent of hundreds of fans, the Morrón literally disappeared between clouds in a matter of minutes, immediately what was a small drizzle became a great storm of water and wind that forced us to protect the tent with winds, and sides.
But those who got really wet were our group of cyclists who dropped all the storm on the rise with no place to retreat.
It was amazing to see how they got drenched to the bone and shivering with cold our companions, who, once dry and recovered from the hardness of the ramps and the tremendous downpour, we restarted forces with a succulent lunch.
From there the rain stopped and we enjoyed like rabbits watching the passage of the caravan of the Vuelta, with many notes of humor of means.
And at last the moment arrived, when the real professionals began to pass, reflecting in their faces disengaged the hardness of the stage and in particular the hardness of Collado Bermejo, we leave the throats encouraging, especially our countryman Jose Joaquin Rojas who was in the break, the only thing that lacked the day was his triumph, since he could only be left with a meritorious second place of the stage.
In short a fantastic day of cycling, I hope and can repeat for many more years, that La Vuelta do not stop going through Murcia, the birthplace of great cyclists and cycling fans.
