The Reception Unit of the Municipal Social Services Center, a key service from which most of the professional activity that the dependent center of the Department of Social Welfare starts offers to all Totana neighbors, has made a total of 16,378 attentions during the year 2016.
The different programs and services of the Center offer professional and personalized attention depending on the characteristics of each person or family unit.
First, the technicians value the initial demand to finalize the attention from the service in the most appropriate and personalized way.
Thus, from the reception and administration attention is derived to social work units, orientation to immigrants in foreign procedures, legal counseling, psychological support, guidance and support to drug addicts and their relatives, location and monitoring of people with work convictions for the benefit of the community, accompaniment for social inclusion and work with families whose children are in a situation of special difficulty.
Among the groups that have required the services of the center, the sector that has demanded a greater attention has been that of family and childhood with 46%, followed by that of older people that has accounted for 19%, adding between both practically two-thirds of the demand served.
Likewise, 13% of the population of disabled people have taken part, as well as that of the foreign population in matters specific to their immigrant status, accounting for approximately 8% of the attention.
In smaller percentages, other sectors of the population in need have also received social attention, such as women, ethnic minorities, youth, drug addicts, prisoners and ex-prisoners, mentally ill, migrants and bystanders, among others .
