The MSG presented this proposal to the July plenary session, demanding that the relevant ministries prepare a law to regulate this profession, in addition to the demands made by social educators.

According to the Socialists, Social Education is a profession that covers a wide field of action (sociocultural animation, education, prevention of dependency, mental health, youth, equality, mediation ...), but it is important to legislate around To this professional figure, not only because of the interest that it arouses in the regulation of the profession itself, but also because of the necessity of this Law in favor of the defense of the rights of the groups with which social educators work.

However, despite their notable presence in the professional teams of social services of municipalities, the lack of regularization of the profession prevents a clear establishment of its scope and limits, favoring intrusism and lack of criteria at the time To face public processes of selection of this professional figure and to determine their functions.

Social Education, however, can only be considered a stable profession, endowed with a body of distinctive and specific knowledge derived from scientific research and the theoretical development of social pedagogy, embodied in the formation of diploma or degree, they reiterate.

The development of specific public functions with technical criteria for intervention, the recognition of an economic retribution, the assumption of an ethical commitment and the self-control over the collective exercised by professional schools are arguments that show a clear gap between the reality of the profession and Their lack of regularization by the administrations.

In this way, the Municipal Socialist Group presented this motion, unanimously approved by all political groups, with the purpose of expressing the support of the City of Totana to Social Education as a profession that covers the needs and demands of citizens, generating Social changes through education.

In turn, they request the Government of the Nation, to make all legal modifications to incorporate this professional figure into the education system.
