The mayor of Totana, Andrés García, and members of the municipal government have recently met with executives of the Canales del Taibilla Mancomunidad (MCT) to deal with debt and issues related to the Water Service in this municipality.
The meeting was attended by the delegate of the Government of the MCT, Adolfo Gallardo, and the secretary general of this body, Jose Manuel Fuentes Murcia, as well as the first deputy mayor of the City of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, and the councilors of the Service Of Aguas, Antonia Camacho, and Hacienda, Ana Cánovas, respectively.
The City of Totana maintains an economic debt with the MCT that has its origin in the year 2012, when the previous Municipal Corporation decided to rescue the Municipal Water Service and stopped paying the monthly billing to Taibilla, which today could be around the 9 million euros, despite the effort of the City Council in recent months to start the payment of receipts.
The Consistory totanero is shuffling to avail itself of new lines of financing offered by the Ministry of Finance and Public Function to face the debts with MCT, Social Security and the almost 30 million euros of the Plans of Payment to Suppliers of 2012 and 2013 To which the previous municipal government was welcomed, and which continue to be held every month of the State Tax Participation by rejecting the Ministry of Finance "Adjustment Plans" approved by the PP Government.
With this operation, the City of Totana would liquidate all those debts (Payment Plans to Suppliers 2012 and 2013, debt with MCT and Social Security) converting these amounts into a 10-year loan, around 1% interest and Two years of lack.
Thus, the City of Totana would increase its income by more than 260,000 euros per month;
A much needed liquidity to meet spending commitments and stabilize debt making it sustainable.
On the part of the Councilor of the Water Service, the serious problems of supply in the area that supplied the industrial complex "El Saladar" and La Ñorica and the study of the works to be executed in collaboration with the General Directorate of Water, City Council of Totana and the MCT.
At the meeting, alternatives were also studied to solve the supply of the areas of Los Huertos, the urbanization "La Charca", Mortolitos, Los Secanos and Las Viñas Carivete by means of the construction of a new reservoir in La Sierrecica To the rambla of the Mills.
At the meeting, steps were taken to have the MCT transfer a house of their own, located in the area of ​​Cordones, called the "House of the Guard" that would be managed by the City of Totana for use in youth programs, hiking And study of the incidence of the Canal del Taibilla in the History and development of the municipality of Totana.
This house is very close to the argaric deposit of the Tira del Lienzo and the Sports City, in the boundaries with the Natural Park of Sierra Espuña.
