The Department of Archives and Historic Heritage of Totana is working with impetus in the recovery of the Prize of Historical Research "Alporchón", which was last convened in 2008 coinciding with its eighth edition and was deserted.

The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, and the councilman of the branch, Inmaculada Blázquez, are developing work meetings to resume this project aimed at knowing and publicizing the history of Totana, and that will be launched during the same year 2017 .

In fact, both municipal authorities have recently met with the dean and vice-dean of Quality and Employment of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Murcia (UMU), Pascual Cantos and José Antonio Molina, respectively, in order to request the collaboration of The teaching institution in order to provide a quality line in the research and dissemination of the call.

The municipal officials are considering recovering this historic research competition in order to adapt the new bases of the same to the current needs of society, and seeking alternatives of work practices to university students who can participate in the project.

In this way, the municipal authorities propose, for example, that students of English Philology of the UMU can translate the winning work of each edition for publication in digital format.

The translation of the winning works could enter, as it is shuffled, within the program of university employment practices with the Center of Guidance and Information of Employment (COIE) of the UMU, valuing the extension of the spectrum of collaboration to other related fields To digitize old prizes (series of prizes "Alporchón"), et cetera.

In addition, it is studied the possibility that this entity can participate in the project through the Edits of the University of Murcia (EDITUM) in order to give greater publicity and international relevance to publications through its promotion in all universities of the Spanish-speaking world.

Likewise, it is worth subscribing to a collaboration agreement between the Consistory totanero, the UMU and the Regional Publishing House of Murcia in order to make partners of the project to these entities.

The Councilor of Archives has very positively valued the contacts that are being made with the heads of the UMU in order to adapt the call of the prize to the new times and needs.
