The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and the Environment has put in place a special device to meet the needs of fire prevention on the occasion of the pilgrimage of ascent to the Sanctuary of Santa Eulalia of Merida, which will take place next Saturday, January 7, In the municipality of Totana.
From 06:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on this day a total of 15 personnel will be in service, including brigades and environmental agents.
The director general of Rural and Forestry Development, Federico García, explained that the staff of the Ministry "will be coordinated with the devices established by Local Police, Firefighters, Civil Protection and Civil Guard."
Nevertheless, he appealed to the responsibility of all the participants in the pilgrimage.
This popular event will be attended by environmental agents attached to the Sierra Espuña Regional Park, with the corresponding forest brigades.
In addition, for greater control of the whole event, that day will be reactivated and equipped with the necessary means the forest watchtower located in Los Algarrobos.
The regional administration has authorized the use of fire in the barbecues of the recreational areas of 'El Grifo' and 'El Ãngel' and outside of the same the use of gaseous fire.
"As an exceptional measure, it will also propose the use of fireworks in a radius of about 100 meters around the barbecues in these two recreational areas," said Federico Garcia.
The pilgrimage is expected to accommodate some 15,000 people.
