The councils of Volunteer and Citizen Participation of the City of Totana report that there are still free places for university students who want to participate in the volunteer program of "Educational Reinforcement" for the academic year 2016/2017 in the municipality of Totana.
The university volunteer program is carried out, once again, promoted by the Consistory totanero, in collaboration with the University of Murcia, through the Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering.
In this way, this university volunteering program broadens for this academic course this participation with the implementation of three new projects, next to which it has been carrying out Educational Reinforcement.
The project includes educational reinforcement for children in situations of socio-cultural disadvantage, as well as social intervention for the groups of dependent elderly people with intellectual disability or mental illness.
In the project of educational reinforcement, the aim is to prevent and reduce problems of failure, absenteeism or early abandonment of studies
Thus, reinforcement is offered to those students of Primary Education derived from the educational centers, during two weekly sessions of an hour and a half each;
In afternoon time.
For its part, social intervention programs with these groups consists of collaborating with the professionals of the three Day Centers of the City of Totana in the organization and development of daily activities.
Thus volunteers work in workshops, individual and group accompaniments, outings and extraordinary activities, accompaniment to home visits, among others, in mornings throughout the year, except August.
This initiative offers the possibility for university students to participate in highly enriching activities, both personally and for a professional future.
Each young person will contribute their volunteering tasks by providing their training and ability, their skills and abilities, their creativity, their attitudes, their involvement and motivation, and so on.
The volunteer has the possibility to develop attitudes and capacities such as assuming a commitment in a reflexive and responsible way, which is taken on its own initiative, freely;
And dedication of part of the available free time, made in a non-profit entity, within clearly defined programs and projects.
In addition, participants are trained and trained to develop their action properly, acting on real situations, practical issues, a complementary and supportive action on the work developed by professionals, with whom it interacts in action.
For the development of these projects, we have the collaboration of a technical team of professionals from the Departments of Education, Social Welfare and Third Age, whose involvement is essential for the orientation, preparation and follow-up of the tasks of volunteering assigned to it To each of the students.
