Councilwoman Women and Equal Opportunities, Josefa Maria Sanchez, has reported the recent meeting held by the Monitoring Committee of the Protocol of action in cases of gender violence in the town of Totana, which agreed to promote the dissemination of CAVI and initiate a public awareness campaign.

This meeting included representatives from the Guardia Civil de Totana, local police, coordinator and technical staff of the Department of Women and Equality, including caviar, technical personnel in the area of Social Welfare and Social Work Health Center.

This meeting, according to the mayor, is part of the proceedings under the Protocol of action in cases of gender violence in the town of Totana, approved by the full City Council of Totana last October 2009.

This is an initiative included in the Area of Domestic Violence of the Second Plan for Equal Opportunities between women and men.

In addition, meetings have resumed in order to monitor the Protocol, with proposals for improvement and report on the Second Conference on Gender Violence with a view to ensure input from those involved in this social problem.

Among the issues raised during the meeting, the mayor noted the good coordination between the professionals involved in gender violence in the town of Totana, through the creation of this protocol to coordinate all actions taken on this issue and especially the involvement of professionals who work with gender violence.

Similarly, the mayor proposed to promote the dissemination of Totana CAVI service through the website of the City of Totana and through various informational signs about the service, to be distributed in the various municipal services in the Education Centres and Health Center, among other places, in order that information about the Center of Services for Women Victims of Domestic Violence reaches the entire population, thereby facilitating access to resources.

There are also plans to initiate an awareness campaign and training provided by the CAVI to professionals involved in gender violence as well as those interested in this issue, as local police, health center, schools and colleges, among others.

Finally, the item is presented draft proposals to host the Second Conference on Gender Violence in the town of Totana.
