Killer whales seen close to Cartagena

Source:

ANSE naturalists have reported rare sightings of what is believed to be a small pod of Killer whales close to the shoreline near Cartegena. The mammals, which can reach lengths of up to 25 feet and can weigh up to 6 tonnes, are not usually seen in these waters and this is suspected to be the first confirmed sighting ever.

On Thursday morning the Orcas were photographed by people on board a Spanish navy diving boat and an official boat from the Cartagena Port Authority. Although they are fearsome predators and will even attack great white sharks, there are no reported attacks on humans in the wild.
