The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, participated today in the opening ceremony of the Day "Trajectory and projection of the Transfer", which has been organized by the Irrigation Community of this town within the commemorative events of its fortieth anniversary;
and that was held in the halls of the Executive Sport hotel.
The event was also attended by the president of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, Mario Urrea, the president of the Central Irrigation Union of the Tajo-Segura Transfer, Lucas Jiménez, and the president of the Totana Irrigation Community, Felipe Andreo.
In addition, representatives of different municipal political groups and the business, cooperative and social fabric of the Totanero municipality congregated.
The day included the holding of several technical papers on "The history, importance and necessity of transfers in Spain" (José Antonio Andújar Alonso, vice president of FENACORE) and the "Social, economic and environmental impact of the Tajo-Segura Transfer" (Joaquín Melgarejo, director of the Institute of Water and Environmental Sciences of the University of Alicante).
Other papers have dealt with "Measures to reduce water scarcity in the Spanish Levante" (Mariano Soto, coordinator of the TSJMC Chair);
and "Current situation of the agricultural supply of desalinated water main considerations" (Victoriano Martínez, coordinator of the TSJMC Chair).
Likewise, other issues were presented at the "Water Footprint" tables (responsible for the Department of Optimization, Energy and Environment of the DAMM group);
and "Remains and water planning from the Autonomous Community of Murcia" (Sebastián Delgado, General Director of Water).
