A team of volunteers from the Association of Civil Protection in Totana has urgently moved to the municipality of Santomera to collaborate in the work of evacuation of neighbors before the presumable overflow of the dam in this municipality after the storm that lasts since yesterday the Murcia region.
The request for immediate help has been produced by the General Directorate of Emergencies in those Civil Protection groups whose municipalities have a situation of greater stability or where the devastating effects of others in the autonomous community have not been suffered.
Four volunteers travel in two vehicles, equipped with the relevant public address and logistics equipment, to assist in the evacuation of the population in this municipality of Murcia.
In any case, more than a dozen volunteers continue their preventive and surveillance work in the municipality of Totana until the situation is normalized.
The Santomera dam could overflow in the next few hours, as the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) has warned, which could trigger new flooding in the area of the districts of El Siscar and La Matanza, so residents will have to be evicted of that and other neighboring districts.
Apparently, this dam has suffered a major flood of water avenues in recent hours, so that throughout the day it could begin to "relieve overflow."
The forecast is to evacuate more than a thousand citizens from the zero zone in the next three hours.
