The City of Totana has resumed, through the Department of Social Welfare, institutional collaboration with the two parish Caritas in the municipality, those of Santiago El Mayor and the Three Hail Marys, respectively, in order to help, to the extent of the possible, in the development of programs of action and social justice after several years without being able to do it.
The grants were restarted in 2018 with an amount of 7,500 euros to each of them, after no subsidies of this nature were granted since 2015, at which time 5,000 euros were provided in each case.
After the granting of the subsidies, both non-governmental associations have to justify the expenses of the aid to the totanero Consistory, as they do, by virtue of the expenses and programs that both develop in their respective parishes;
and that in both cases they are up to date in their justifications.
The two associations work to spread the spirit of charity and social justice, seeking to raise the awareness of the parish community in order to Christian communication of property, the fulfillment of the duties of justice and the testimony of poverty and sobriety of life.
In addition, they work to promote and coordinate initiatives in order to solve the problems of those in need and cooperate, to the extent possible and convenient, with civil assistance and social action agencies, as well as with any other charitable action entity and social with a Christian sense or not.
They also participate in the efforts of those in need of help from the families of Totana to improve their living conditions, and to show solidarity with them by exposing and denouncing the sufficiently proven situations that undermine their dignity and right, justice and equal opportunities.
