The City Council of Totana recalls a series of recommendations to promote among the citizens the moderate and rational consumption of water in the remainder of summer, especially, coinciding with the existing drought and in order to avoid future restrictions that in previous years have suffered the neighbors of the locality and the Region of Murcia.
The Consistory insists on asking users for a responsible use in the supply in regard to the irrigation of gardens and the use of swimming pools, especially in the Los Huertos area, places of second residence that in summer are mostly occupied by residents of Totana and that require greater demand for this resource in summer.
In this way, a set of daily measures is reported that can compensate for the lack of rainfall in recent months and guarantee the water supply in the face of the tremendous drought that is being suffered.
Water is a scarce asset, a value that is being quoted upwards, so using it rationally is an obligation of all citizens to ensure a more habitable world for the next generations.
These recommendations to the citizens of Totana will allow them to save water, as well as reduce the cost of their bills, such as slightly closing the stopcock of housing, since the difference is not appreciated and a large amount of water is saved.
It is better to shower than to bathe, since you can save about 100 liters of water, as well as turn off the water tap in the shower when we are soaping and when we brush our teeth, since you can save between 10 and 20 liters.
It is recommended to use the dishwasher or washing machines only when they are full, and urgently fix faults of faucets and pipes, since a dripping tap can lose up to 30 liters per day.
In case of scrubbing the dishes by hand, it is advisable to do it with the tap closed using a battery to lather and another to rinse.
Other recommended measures are to water the plants at dusk to avoid losses due to evaporation and place diffusers in the taps of the house to better use the water reducing its consumption.
It is also advised not to wash the car every week, and when washing it, resort to a car wash station because it saves more water, pull the chain only when it is essential and place a bottle inside the tank are other of the recommendations.
