The Department of Health reports that during this week have begun the actions included in the comprehensive plan for urban pest control corresponding to the annual shock treatment of disinsection of sanitation systems, sewerage and scuppers of the municipality of Totana.
The treatment consists of spraying the interior of sewer records with insecticide products in order to reduce the population of cockroaches (Periplaneta americana), as well as in the placement of rodenticides.
Once this shock treatment has been completed, which will affect all the records of the sewer system of the urban area, including the industrial estate, the Paretón-Cantareros deputation and different urbanizations, the following months will be followed up, with an emphasis on those areas where the presence of cockroaches persists or the existence of rodent niches has been proven.
In the same way, baits and traps will be installed to monitor and control the existence of tiger mosquitoes (Aedes albopictus) in our municipality, as well as, if necessary, to carry out treatments against mosquitoes.
The Department points out that in relation to the actions against mosquitoes, likewise, the treatments of rainfall records are being carried out through the application of adulticide insecticides.
These actions are framed within the Comprehensive Urban Pest Control Plan of Totana that is carried out by the company "Lokímica SA", the tenant of this municipal service.
