The Civil Platform AHORA TOTANA shows its rejection of the cession of the CTA to ASART

Source:

The Plenary will debate tomorrow the proposal of the Mayor's Office regarding the cession of the Technological Craft Center (CTA) to the Association of Craftsmen (ASART) with the purpose to turn it into Totana's Pottery Museum

SO NOT (THE CTA IS OF ALL)

"It seems that the mayor wants to take the cession of the Technological Craft Center (CTA) for 10 years to the association of artisans of Totana ASART to turn this center into a museum of Totana pottery.

This proposal comes from the hand of ASART with the argument of enhancing the traditional craft of the pottery of the city of Totana.

From the Civil Platform AHORA TOTANA we want to manifest the following:

1 .- That a building that is owned by all residents of Totana since 2003 we think it is risky and hasty to make a concession for so long a municipal building to any association without previously presenting the appropriate project, leaving the margin for its use to other associations in favor of the culture or other professional groups of artisan character, or of any other nature related to the culture of our town.

2º.- That we do not know what interests there are in favoring a certain association that we know is inactive for quite some time, and that put in contact with a member of ASART, we are informed that there has been no meeting to discuss the issue that we occupy

We do not see as enough value the one used by ASART to give support to a sector that although it has represented craftsmanship as a traditional craft, unfortunately we can count on the fingers of the hand and we would have more than one of the pottery craftsmen that remain in today to today.

3º.- To say that ASART when it was in operation, represented not only the trade of potters and potters, but the collective of craftsmen in general, therefore the rest of artisans with this type of attitude can not be excluded.

It seems to us that not only has the president of ASART been the driving force behind this request, but there is another association behind that tries to boycott the use of CTA for other purposes.

4º.- We continue insisting that this center should be destined to a museum dedicated to the La Bastida, La cabezuelas and Artesanía sites in which the archaeological pieces that the learned in the matter may deem convenient are exposed.

Some pieces (those of the bastide) that on the other hand are still wrapped in plastic wrap, and of which it is not known if they are inventoried or not.

We are aware that the building of the CTA may not be in accordance with the importance and magnitude of the La Bastida Deposit, but we think that there is a reason to start, and more, given the precarious situation of the town hall. "
