The Musical Group of Totana will celebrate this afternoon, from 20:30 hours, with the collaboration of the City of Totana, the institutional act by which the name of Ceferino Ayala García will be officially given to the facilities of the Municipal School of Music from this locality, located in the Sociocultural Center "La Cárcel".
The act will count on the assistance of the municipal authorities and representatives of the board of directors of the Musical Group of Totana, promoter of this initiative;
and in which the rehearsal rooms of this cultural infrastructure will also be nominated with the names of "Antonio Jiménez Travel", "Francisco Díaz Jiménez" and "Pedro Camacho Pintado".
The mayor, Andrés García, the first deputy mayor, Juan José Cánovas, the president of the Musical Group of Totana, Juan Carrión, and members of the municipal Corporation and the board of directors of said cultural entity will meet.
This opportunity has also served to undertake, in recent days, some conditioning and improvement performances in the rehearsal rooms by the Totanero Consistory coinciding with the beginning of the new 2018/19 course, such as the painting of some walls and doors, and the replacement of the floor of one of the classrooms for an approximate amount of 2,000 euros.
Ceferino Ayala García has been director of the School of Music and Music Band of the Musical Group of Totana since its refoundation in 1980, after seven years of non-existence;
having in his professional career an exclusive dedication and, in many occasions, disinterested to the musical education of the young people of Totana.
Nomination other facilities dependencies
In addition, the rehearsal rooms located at the Municipal School of Music will be called the "Antonio Jiménez Travel", "Francisco Díaz Jiménez" and "Pedro Camacho Pintado", as suggested by the Musical Association in its proposal in October 2016 and that resulted in a motion by the Mayor's Office, approved unanimously.
Antonio Jiménez Travel was the first defender of the idea of ​​reviving music in Totana;
so that in November 1979, from his position as councilor, he began to forge and plan how to regenerate the Musical Group, with a group of councilors led by him to give his financial endowment to this project, money that would be used for the acquisition of uniforms, repair and purchase of instruments.
Pedro Camacho Pintado presided over the Musical Association since its refoundation in 1980 until 1998: his enthusiasm, tenacity and ability to work and people skills played a key role in achieving this goal when refloating the defunct entity.
Francisco Díaz Jiménez was a member of the Board of Directors of this Musical Association from May 2009 until his tragic death in a traffic accident in August 2011.
