The Department of Youth is working on the promotion and creation of a Municipal Commission for Children and Youth that allows the social, cultural and political life of these sectors of population in Totana to be dynamized transversally, and that has recently been approved by the Local Board of government.
The councilor of the branch, Inmaculada Blázquez, has presented this initiative that aims to become a body of participation in the planning, organization and evaluation of actions in the field of children and youth in this municipality, and whose headquarters will be located in the Sociocultural Center " The jail".
Blázquez explained that his department intends to arbitrate a tool that allows, the involvement and participation of citizens in relation to children and youth;
and has argued that this initiative arises from the need for the neighbors, through their groups and youth associations, to be the true protagonists in public life, making proposals and collaborating with the local administration.
According to the mayor of Juventud, the idea is to join forces and promote mechanisms that favor the right of everyone to participate, defending the rights and interests of children and young people;
fostering youth associations, stimulating their creation and providing the support and assistance required.
Blázquez has indicated that this is one of the initiatives "more exciting and ambitious" of his Council in this mandate, which has been "very excited";
and has opted to promote communication and collaboration among the entities that develop their activity in the city through actions of planning, coordination and evaluation of actions in the field of childhood and youth.
The Municipal Commission for Children and Youth will be composed of the mayor, the Councilor for Youth, a representative of each of the political groups represented in the City Council, a representative of each of the youth associations active or working with children and youth duly constituted, and a representative of the Youth Sections of entities not strictly juvenile that have autonomy in their operation, guaranteed by the existence of their own statutes.
In addition, a maximum of four young people with voice and vote older than 14 years and under 30 registered in the municipality of Totana who have previously requested it will form part of this;
a maximum of 4 young people with voice and vote who perform the functions of youth correspondents in the IES of the municipality of Totana;
technical staff of the Youth Councils and Citizen Participation with voice but without vote.
Ordinary meetings shall be held at least once a quarter;
and the agreements of the Commission will take the form of reports and will be transferred to the organs of the City Council or to the competent bodies of the Central or Autonomous administrations.
The councilor stressed that a deadline of June 18 is established to designate the members representing the Municipal Commission for Children and Youth, so that entities and citizens who wish to participate in it must submit a letter addressed to the Department of Youth requesting your participation in it.
