The mayor of Totana, Andrés García, deeply regrets that the Government delegate, Francisco Bernabé, has canceled the appointment he had made with the delegation of politicians of the municipal Corporation and residents affected by the route of the AVE as it passes through this municipality , and that was scheduled for next Monday, May 14 (1:15 p.m.).
A delegation from Totana, made up of city officials and representatives of the AVE Totana-Fuerza Ciudadana neighborhood platform, had planned to meet with the Government delegate in Murcia to demand the change of the AVE route, but the appointment was canceled and communicated officially this morning to understand that this did not make sense, given that next Thursday it was going to be received by the president of Adif, Juan Bravo, in Madrid.
The first mayor had requested on April 28 an urgent meeting with heads of Adif, the Government delegate and the Minister of Development, Patricio Valverde, to request immediate solutions to the current route of the AVE upon arrival in Totana.
The mayor regrets that the government delegate miss the opportunity to care for those affected and know the discomfort and concern of the general feeling of the citizenry;
and remember that they are the representatives of their party in Totana "the first to ask for transparency and participation with the neighbors by the institutions and administrations involved".
For Andrés García, the head of the Government in the region shows "little respect and capacity for dialogue" in a problem that "is overwhelming the society totanera", and noted that Bernabe demonstrates "contempt" to those affected by the path of the AVE and residents of Totana in general by refusing to receive them.
The totanero councilman understands that the government delegate "has no empathy whatsoever with the citizens" to not even "listen to their problems and concerns" and reiterates that "the meeting with Adif on Thursday is not incompatible with the one scheduled for Monday in the Delegation of the government".
Andrés García explains that the sole purpose of the meeting in the Government Delegation was to send him, as the highest representative of the Government of Spain in the Region, "the citizen and political sensitivity" of Totana "to be sent to the Ministry of Public Works. , which is also an important protagonist in this project and in the proposed layout ".
The mayor of Totana describes as "sarcasm and a political incongruity" the fact that the delegate of the Government "does not receive the mayor and the spokespersons of the Municipal Corporation, representatives of all the citizens," but nevertheless "he has been able to receive the PP with the affected neighbors ";
what he interprets as an "evident lack of institutional loyalty".
Finally, the mayor invites the delegate of the Government to "desist" from his opaque and obscurantist attitude, and "reconsider" in order to have a working meeting that allows to redirect this situation;
and he remembers that this situation "is not new for the current municipal government team", since the former mayor Juan José Cánovas "had to endure the institutional vacuum, being a counselor, while receiving the opposition earlier than the maximum representative of the neighbors".
