To demand the change of the route of the AVE

A delegation from Totana, made up of city officials and representatives of the AVE Totana-Fuerza Ciudadana neighborhood platform, will meet next week with the government delegate in Murcia, Francisco Bernabé, (Monday, 1:15 p.m.);

and with the managers of the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (Adif) in Madrid (Thursday, 12:30 pm) to demand the change of the route of the AVE.

The meeting is expected to attend the mayor, Andrés García, the councilor for Urbanism, Carlos Ballester, and the spokespersons of the municipal groups, as well as members of the platform of neighbors affected by the new layout of the AVE proposed by Adif in its path by Totana and municipal technicians.

The first mayor had requested on April 28 an urgent meeting with heads of Adif, the Government delegate and the Minister of Development, Patricio Valverde, to request immediate solutions to the current route of the AVE upon arrival in Totana.

The efforts came to comply with the mandate of the April plenary session of all political groups and the demands of the AVE Totana-Fuerza Ciudadana platform, which has been set up against the modification of the Mediterranean Corridor project as it passes through this municipality , and which is concentrated every Wednesday as a sign of protest for the layout of this infrastructure.

Totana is the municipality where more farms are concentrated in the new rail stretch projected between Sangonera and Lorca, of 48.3 kilometers in length.

The Administrator of Railway Infrastructures (Adif) released on April 12 to public information, for expropriation purposes, the construction project of the AVE platform on the stretch Sangonera-Lorca.

The Official Bulletin of the Region (BORM) published that same day the announcement and the list of goods and properties affected by the works, communicating the opening of a period of 15 working days to formulate allegations or rectifications.

A total of 1,255 farms and plots will be expropriated in the five municipalities affected by the Mediterranean Corridor from Sangonera to Lorca, of which only 104 are municipal property.

By municipalities, Totana is the term that contributes the most: above half a million meters, which correspond to 394 farms.

In addition to these lands, others will be occupied - of smaller extension and of temporary form - to execute the works, as well as the rights of way.
